Tunisia is a country of hospitable, hardworking people. It has a world-famous history from Berbers, Phoenician Carthage, Romans, Vandals, Arabs, and Byzantines, to modern Tunisians.

Amazing breathtaking landscapes, beaches, warm sea, Sahara desert, oases, and moon-like terrains are a magnet for many tourists and an inspiration for many movie makers.

Best Time To Travel To Tunisia

The summer season in Tunisia is between mid-May and the beginning of October. The hottest months are July and August with average temperatures around 34°C (93°F).

The temperatures in the Sahara desert can be higher and the season is much longer. We visited Tunisia at the end of September and the beginning of October. It was still hot.

We noticed high humidity at the end of the day and in the evenings.

Sousse is a blend of Maghreb history and architecture with a modern tourist vibe of beaches and resorts. It offers the old Medina with Ribat, the Statue of Habibe Bourguiba the first president of independent Tunisia. A 4km (2,5 mi) long beach of white sand provides more than enough space for sunbathing and enjoying the Mediterrane sea. Above all is the opportunity to meet hospitable, hard-working Tunisians.

Carthage

The capital of Tunisia has so much to offer from mighty Carthage, blue & white Sidi Bou Said architecture, and Bardo National Museum, to the old Medina quarter. We could see the blending of Oriental and European architecture on the streets. The museum collections of Roman mosaics, sculptures, marble statues, and terracotta pieces were very educational and inspiring.

Visit the UNESCO site of the Roman amphitheater in El Jem. The only amphitheater in the Roman Empire of ellipses shape. We could learn about the life of gladiators and slave fighters, as well as the social peace role of province leaders during the gladiator games.

The most famous visiting site in Kairouan is the Mosque of Uqba. It is an important Muslim pilgrimage site and is considered the fourth most important holy site. Kairouan is also well-known for its carpets advertised as Made In Kairouan.

This is a fashionable place in Tunisia. It consists of tourist complexes and a port where luxury yachts are located. It is a very picturesque place with lots of funny-shaped trees, beautiful flowers, green parks, fountains, hotels, and resorts.
